Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! This blog is a mash-up of content including but not limited to all the things I love (Jesus, my family, reading, trying new things)  and the many different hats I wear (wife, mother, sister, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, friend, homeschooler, co-op teacher, part time corporate worker, legal scopist and all around busy person!) My personal Mr. Darcy will show up from time to time and my mostly grown brood of three will have an occasional mention: M.A (Anne Elliot)  D.M (Knightly) and S.E. (Marianne Dashwood) but mostly I will be using this platform to encourage my homeschool co-op students to blog about their life, to learn about writing by…. well, writing; to share their thoughts, ideas, opinions and voice; to be brave and bold and funny and serious and real and, most of all,  to be themselves through the beauty of the written word.  They challenge me to be a better version of myself. Eternity Is In It - A Poem About a Minute

Mays This poem was recited by our coach at boot camp today and i thought I would share it here. It's so incredibly interesting how we perceive a minute. This morning, while we were (suppose to be) doing a plank for  a minute it seemed like the longest minute I've encountered all week. But later, while enjoying time with my family, 30 of them went by in a snap! How are you viewing your minutes; all the ones God gave you? Are you wishing some of them away? Wishing you were doing anything but the thing God placed you right in the middle of? When you have those encounters just remember this poem by Dr. Benjamin E. Mays. Eternity is in it.

I'm BACK!!! And a reading challenge

Pic: Flickr creative commons       My blogging class is over (😢) and the class and I will start learning some coding and web development next semester. Some of my students are still blogging a bit and my own daughter has started her own blog so keep checking out the links here for those student blogs.      I took some time off of almost everything that didn't relate to family and work for the last month.  I had a very nice holiday for the Thanksgiving/Christmas break. Our family took a fun trip to the Gatlinburg area (more on that in another blog post!) and enjoyed family and relaxation for the New Year week. Now that I am feeling mostly refreshed on to the next thing. Which is.....      Goals for 2018! I don't really set resolutions. The Ruby Slipper - A Restuarant Review

There's no place like home.... cooking.  Er, or rather, nothing like home cooking????  The Ruby Slipper Unless it's something you never cook at home like....   Eggs Cochon (Eggs benedict with tender, melt in your mouth apple braised  pork) cooked to perfection with a smooth, creamy hollandaise sauce atop a tender bisucit and just perfect poached egg. All served with a little jazz performance by Mardi Gras Indians.  I got to enjoy this little jewel of a restaurant on it's Grand Opening this week. I had an appointment to give blood for some routine evaluations and made a plan to meet my best friend afterwards. Because....fasting blood work. Enough said.   While in the waiting room of the lab I received a text from Bestie recommending this restaurant for our brunch date. It was close. I was hungry. I said yes.  Truly, I am glad I did.
